The question that remains is whether these amounts are in short tons (2000 lbs), long tons (2240 lbs), or metric tons or tonnes (1000 kg). The difference is not insignificant.

Since France had already adopted the metric system at the time of construction, it is likely that the above values are in metric tons.

Unfortunately, different sources use both ton or tonne without and conversion of the stated value.
