My '96 has 105,000 on the odometer and she still runs fine.
I don't think it would be unusual for a well maintained Sunfire
to go at least that far.
NOTE: My Sunfire, like many others, is in excellent condition, save
the paint. No interior rips, tears or cracks. It has Air/Tilt/Cruise/power
windows/ABS and airbags.
If my engine died tomorrow, (knock wood)
I would be better off replacing it instead of buying
a different car.

If you perform regular maintenance and change the oil religiously every 3000-5000 miles, lots!My '96 was apparently well taken care of before I bought her. Right now, there are 215,000 miles on the odometer and she still runs fine. I'm averaging about 28 miles per gallon.

Yes if you don't disconnect your driveline
Yes. If memory serves, you want to do that about every 30,000 miles.
A well maintained Pontiac Sunfire with the 2.2L 4-cylinder engine should be easily be able to reach 200,000 miles as designed. This will require you to be active in maintaining its engine oil intervals & level, transmission fluid and filter changes, coolant flushes, and remembering to replace belts, PCVs, air and fuel filters.
The spark plug gap for the 2003 Pontiac Sunfire 2.2 liter 4-cylinder is .043 (in thousandths). The '03 Sunfire gets up to 25 miles per gallon in the city and 33 mph on the highway.Ê
