They became extinct only around ten thousand years ago.

no where, their extinct (dead)
It didn't live, it went extinct
How long they wanted to!
Woolly mammoth primarily lived in Russia and northern Europe. The only US state that they have been found in is Alaska. Woolly mammoths lived on the Alaskan tundra about 10,000 years ago.
Woolly mammoths lived in Siberia and Europe during the last Ice Age, and died out about 10,000 years ago, except for a population of dwarf woolly mammoths that lived on Wrangel Island until only 3,700 years ago.
Woolly mammoths lived in Siberia, Alaska, and northern Europe.
The woolly mammoth primarily lived during the Pleistocene Epoch, which lasted from about 2.6 million to around 11,700 years ago. This period included several glacial cycles, where large ice sheets advanced and retreated across much of the Northern Hemisphere. Woolly mammoths thrived in the cold tundra environments of the time, particularly during the last glacial maximum, which occurred around 26,500 years ago. They eventually became extinct as the climate warmed and their habitat changed.
It is a mammal, for it gave live birth. It was the ancestor of the modern day elephant.

Woolly mammoths lived primarily during the Pleistocene epoch, which lasted from about 2.6 million to 11,700 years ago. They thrived in the cold, tundra-like environments of the northern hemisphere, particularly in areas like Siberia and North America. The species persisted until around 4,000 years ago on Wrangel Island, making them one of the last surviving mammoth populations.
The woolly mammoth was the last species of the genus Mammuthus. Most populations of the woolly mammoth in Eurasia and North America died out at the end of the last Ice Age.There are many explanations about how they died. One is: About 12,000 years ago, wetter, warmer weather began to take hold. The woolly mammoth, in its warm, thick furry coat, could not withstand the rising temperatures.Another is: Due to the climate change different plants started to grow in the countries in which the Woolly Mammoth lived. There became more of these plants and less grass and other vegetation the Mammoth ate. When the Mammoth's food source had gone they ventured further north in order to find some more food. Eventually there was no food left anywhere and the Mammoth died out. This theory's evidence is that by examining the pollen that came from around that time you can see that there are very little amounts of grass pollen (which is what mammoth's ate) and much more other pollen. You can see that the Mammoths moved further north when there became less mammoth fossils in areas the Mammoths used to live and more further North.
