Temecula is part of Riverside County in the southern part of California. Riverside County is inland Claifornia, with no access to the ocean and is mostly desert. Temecula is no exception, being rated as a Medeteranian climate, with lots of heat but average low temperatures rarely below 40. Surrounded by unincorporated areas on several sides, there are only a few towns close by, including Aguanga and Murrieta. The area became popular as people moved to the city to escape the steep housing prices of the surrounding big cities, which quickly pushed housing prices up. However, while Temecula has a fairly high median income, the rising number of foreclosed homes has brought the housing and rental market down in price in Temecula and surrounding cities and unincorporated areas. .
