Most countries REALLY CLOSE to Israel are their enemies. All of these countries are Arab or Muslim, which may provide an explanation. Every Muslim-majority country goes in and out of wars with its neighbours for one reason or another.

The United Nations preceded the independence of the State of Israel. Israel, therefore, could not have created the United Nations.
Israel and Egypt have never fought a one-on-one war. Egypt was one of the nations whose armies joined in a coordinated, synchronized attack on Israel in 1948, when Israel declared itself an independent sovereign nation, in an attempt to forcefully convey the statement "Oh no you don't!". Israel obviously didn't "lose" that one.
