This depends on the yarn.
To give you a comparison, here are 3 different weight yarns (from Lion Brand web site). As you can see, even weight is not a firm determining factor in figuring the number of yards, although I would venture to say in most cases a lighter weight yarn will have more yards to the ounce.
Vanna's Glamour® #2 sport weight
1.75 oz./50 g (202 yd/185 m)
Jamie® #3 DK Light worsted
Solids: 1.75 oz (50 g), 137 yd (125 m)
Amazing® #4 worsted
1.75 oz./50 g (147 yd/135 m)
That depends on the thickness and the material of the yarn. Most paper ball-bands tell you the connection between length and weight. If the ball-band is missing, the manufacturer's website might have the information. As an example, medium worsted weight yarn (roughly dk in the UK) is about 50 yds to the ounce, and I oz is about 28 g.
That would depend on the yarn, but usually about 50 grams per ball..Also would depend on what the yardage is per ball.
Your answer depends on the wright of the yarn: a ball of thread weight silk yarn will not weigh as much as a ball of bulky wool.
There is 28.35 grams in one ounce.
They can't be compared. A yard is a distance, an ounce is a weight. The length of 2 ounces of yarn would depend upon the thickness of the yarn and the type of material the yarn is made of (lambs wool, acrylic, etc). I have had some luck when substituting a yarn with a replacement that was an equivalent grams per meter (ounces per yard).
Depends on the yarn. There is yarn that is 100% cotton, but cotton/rayon mixes and other mixes are common.
There should be 836 yards in a package of 16oz of yarn.
10.6 ounces.
160 balls of yarn at 50 grams each weighs a total of 282.19 ounces or 17.64 pounds.
typically the yard holds 2 British pints, about 44 U.S. ounces
depends how big the yard is.
Your answer depends on the weight of the yarn.Thread weight yarn will weigh less than bulky weight, given 'five balls' of each.
Ounces and yards are not compatible.
About 1.7 to 1.9 ounces. http://www.crochet-world.com/blog/?p=7272
it depends on what size and type of hat. be more specific.
An ounce is a measurement of weight and a yard is a measurement of distance. There are three feet in a yard and twelve inches in a foot.
