A Morgan silver dollar has .77344 ounces of pure silver. That is a little over 3/4 of an ounce of silver per coin.

58.78144 or 58.8 troy ounces of silver. Maybe less depending on physical wear

of these coins. Don't ever sell them for silver content alone, unless dates, mint marks and, or face is not visable. Go on eBay to see all of your coins dates for sale and see what kind of valuable coins you may be holding.

Silver right now is at $17.01 per troy ounce.

Your 76 coins @ $17.01 pto is worth $1292.76

I pay between $18 and 26 for decent specimens and more common dates.

Your coins at $26 each would be $1976

When I multiply 58.8x 17.01 I come up with 1000.19 rather than the 1292. It's been a long time since I took math in school.

8-21-11>>> No true silver dollar (1794-1935) has a full ounce of silver. The Actual Silver Weight is .77344oz of pure silver.

There are other countries besides the USA (notably Canada) that mint silver dollars

that are above 98% pure silver. These are generally commemorative mintings and are not normally circulated.
