I've read a study that says up to six (8oz cups) is good for you. As long as you have no side effects of this much caffeine (i.e. sleep problems, anxiety) and your heart is healthy, I would venture to say that that is a pretty reasonable limit. Of course, if you add cream and sugar to all of those cups, that can really add up.
Moderation is always best; just do what your body tells you.
It's up to you; everyone has their own preference. If you're making it for people, leave the sugar on the side. If you're worried about health - the less sugar the better, of course.
