A quote may be any length, but it should not be the majority of your essay's body. Make sure it doesn't have a run on sentence.

If the quote is a sentence, put in in quotes and cite the source properly.

If the quote is a paragraph, move the margin in on both sides 1 inch. Indentation normally found at the beginning of a paragraph may be disregarded for the quoted paragraph. Right before it, briefly describe the quote, then use ":" to begin. Use quotation marks, and be certain to switch the margin back on both sides once you're finished.

(And always, always, always cite the source.)

(Use quotes to support points- if you need to fill space, rephrase the quote or explain its meaning right after using it.)

The number of pages required for an essay can vary depending on the assignment guidelines. Typically, essays are around 3-5 pages in length for an undergraduate-level assignment. It is important to follow the specific instructions provided by the instructor to determine the appropriate length for your essay.
