The show called Glee has certainly made an impact. For those who haven't heard of the term yet, a Gleek is a Glee fan.
Surveys are carried out about all sorts of things but to date, no one has done a survey of gleeks. The number of gleeks therefore remains a mystery for the time being. No doubt there are online and offline fan clubs sprouting up who will be able to claim certain membership numbers. We will never actually know because there seems to be a large number of closet gleeks - those people who watch the show but never admit it.
