n the Gospel accounts and in Acts 1, he was obviously seen by the original twelve apostles, minus Judas, presumably including such folks as Matthias, who took Judas place, and the women and other men disciples. There were "about an hundred and twenty" in the upper room, according to Acts 1:15. In 1 Corinthians 15;6, "He was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep."

The answer to this question varies according to the source used:

  • In the original version of Mark, Jesus appeared to no-one; the young man simply telling the women that he had risen, upon which they fled and told no-one.
  • In the "Long Ending" of Mark (verses 16:9-20), added later to bring this gospel more or less into harmony with the other synoptic gospels, Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene, then the "two of them", then to the eleven: a total of 14.
  • In Matthew, he appeared to Mary Magdalene and the other Mary, and later to the eleven: a total of 13.
  • In Luke, Jesus appeared to "two of them" (including Cleopas and possibly Peter), then to the eleven: a total of 13.
  • In John, Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene, then ten of the apostles, then twice to all eleven apostles: 12 persons, for a total of 33 sightings.
  • In Acts of the Apostles, Jesus appeared to many, over a period of forty days.
  • In 1 Corinthians, Jesus appeared to Cephas, then the twelve, then more than 500, then James, then all the apostles, then to Paul: a total of well over 500.

We know that the appearance to Paul was purely spiritual and it has been noted that Paul wrote of the other appearances as if they also were only spiritual.

Why did people complain about jesus inviting himself to zacchaeus house?

Zacchaeus was a tax collector. Everyone in that time hated the tax collectors so it seemed that someone claiming to be the Son of God should be doing much "holier" things. Jesus did this to show the people that anyone could come to know God and follow Him.
