In 2014 sixteen people were killed by an avalanche just below Camp Two on Mount Everest. In 2015 eighteen were killed near Base Camp by an avalanche that was triggered by an earthquake. This year, 2016 saw five climbers die for different reasons. Making it 39 deaths on Mount Everest in the last three years.

The most amount of people to have died in one go while on Mount Everest is eighteen. This happened last year, 2015 when an earthquake struck in Nepal and caused an avalanche near the base of Mount Everest while there were many climbers on the mountain.
