Ehlers Danlos Syndrome is not a terminal disease, but an inherited disorder of the connective tissue throughout the body. Although individuals with EDS may experience chronic pain and disability, their life expectancy is the same as anyone's.

Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) is an inherited condition; individuals are born with the condition. It is not a disease that anyone can "get" or catch like polio or tuberculosis. Although exact numbers are not available, a rough estimate would be about 1 in 1500 people are born with EDS.
