How many households don't own dogs?

Well, sometimes it depends on the person(s) that get a dog. Sadly, majority of those who do get a dog won't keep the dog due to not realizing how much responsibility comes with ownership. Also, the cost of caring for a dog can come as a shock to some. Other reasons for a dog owner to give up their beloved pup may be due to falling on personal or family hardships and are unable to give their dog the love and care that's needed.

So, if you are thinking about getting a puppy/dog make sure you know all that is involved in taking good care of your dog. I've heard some say having a dog is kind of like having a kid. Lots and lots of responsibility, time, money, and love. =)

Although there are numerous people that have a home, let it be a house bought or rented, a trailer, or an RV, there's also dog owners that don't have a home, so it's really hard to give a NUMBER of "households" that don't have dogs in them, so 61% of U.S. households is about as close as you'll get. As many as they want! We have three dogs and four chinchillas. It really depends on how responsible the family is and how many people are there to take care of the dogs. Glad I could help :)
