Some are able to recover on their own, though, which is a positive hope for all suffering from the disorder. Only about 20% of diagnosed anorexics recieve treatment. A larger percent recieve treatment initially, but are forced to stop treatment either by personal choice, medical proxy, or because they cannot afford it/insurance runs out, meaning that they do not recieve full treatment.

Certain factors like organ functions and hair loss / re-growth could take a very long time to become normal and healthy again, and in some cases they never do become fully healthy. Also, there is always a chance for relapse, so a person can never officially be declared "recovered" or "cured" from having anorexia.
