PCP, or 1-(1-phenylcyclohexyl)piperidine), was first synthesized in 1926, but not much was done with it until about 1952, when it was patented and then marketed as an anesthetic.Recreational use began in various cities in the US in 1967.
PCP is considered a schedule II drug and is not legal in the US
About 100 deaths each year in the 80's US so it would be about 150 deaths now due to an increase in population and drug use(blame the war on drugs). "Doses of PCP exceeding 200 mg have resulted in death. The 2002 Mortality Data report published by DAWN listed Washington, DC, Philadelphia, and Baltimore among those US cities with highest PCP-related mortality rates (27 PCP related deaths were reported in Washington, DC, in 2002).[7] A survey from 1981-1986 in metropolitan Saint Louis, Missouri, reported that 81 homicides, 13 suicides, 6 unintentional deaths, and 4 deaths of unknown causes were related to PCP intoxication.[8]" Source: http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/1010821-overview#a0199 I know a few people that binge high doses of PCP and have been for years. The main danger with PCP is when you give it to someone that can't handle it, someone who mistakes the dissociation as being reality.
