Five men from the Kitty Hawk lifeboat station, (plus two small boys and a dog) were present on the 14 th December 1903 when Wilbur Wright first flew The Flyer, but dropped a wing and crashed. This flight was not recognised as the first and was repeated by Orville Wright on 17th December, three days later and became the official 'first powered, controlled flight', a distance of some 120 feet. Three further flights were made by both brothers later on the same day. Witnesses on 17th were: John Daniels, W.S. Dough, A.D Etheridge, W. C Brinkley and Johnny Moore. (Mr Daniels took the now famous picture of the take off). Two other men from the Life Boat Station viewed from a distance, possibly with binoculars.
The Wright brothers were TWO of the most important people in aviation.
The Wright Brothers are people... dead people. You can't build people, and as far as we know, there's no cure for death.
