Yes. MineCon is held annually and people may pay $99 to attend. Members who do get a cool cape. So far one unofficial one in 2010 and two official ones in 2011-2012 have been held. The 2010 and 2011 ones were held in the U.S. but MineCon 2012 was held in Disneyland Paris
My wife, 2 kids and I visited Disneyland Paris in 2010. My kids were ~2 and 5 years old then. It's the only Disney they've known, so kids can't compare. We had a great time, personally speaking. Very clean, little to no lines, prices were fair, and perhaps less "commercialized" then American counterparts. Less pressure. If you're asking for only the negative effects of it, I'd say the distance for North Americans to visit. There are not nearly as many "package deals" available, compared to the parks of Florida and California. I could add the size of the Paris park is smaller, but when visiting for just a day or two, the size is more than enough.
Its 2010 and Disneyland was built in 1955. So its been 55 years.
