Patton was very aggressive, and had an excellent ability to grasp a situation quickly. If the top Allied Command had listened to his plan in Sicily instead of Montgomery's, no doubt many thousands of enemy forces would have been captured. Patton did however, sometimes take unnecessary risks, and this was due to his search for personal glory.

General George S. Patton was a hero on and off the battlefield. He won several campaigns including those in Italy, Tunisia and the Battle of El Guettar.
General George S. Patton was slightly out of favor with High Command. To placate him he was given charge of a massive fake army on the northeast coast of England. This involved many personal appearances by him in the local areas far from London.

George S. Patton had a long career in the Army. During WW2, he was a general in command of an Army. So many generals are not associated with a branch of service as they can command infantry, armor and artillery. George Patton had served with the cavalry and was an advocate of the new armored units. He helped establish the Desert Training Center or California-Arizona Maneuver Area near Yuma, AZ, which was used for large scale tank training. Patton's 3rd Army also depended on its armored units to defeat the Germans.
Germany, when some solders came back from a party and they were in a skate bed truck. They took a left turn and never saw George Patton and they hit the front of his car when he was also turning left.
