How many survived? It would be easier to ask how many perished. It is estimated that anywhere from 50 to 78 million persons died as a result of WWII. This includes many who died of illness or starvation that would not have happened if there had been no war. This also includes over 25 million military personnel. It was easily the deadliest conflict ever.
