A GM Vortec 305 4.8 liter engine has a rating of 315 horsepower. It is not good for towing, however, having little torque on the low end.
Are you asking if the 350 vortec will interchange with the 305 vortec or any 350 with the 305 vortec? The 305 vortec uses a conventional small block Chevy style large starter. The 350 vortec often uses a high tourqe mini starter. You can interchange them. The mini starter is preferred as it saves space has more torque and normally last longer. Now if you're talking older starters interchanging? Some of the older small blocks used a diagonal bolt pattern and different tooth count.
175 hp 205 ft lbs of torque
will a 4.3l vortec starter fit a 305 vortec?
It will as long as the 305 is a VORTEC ENGINE TOO.
a 350 will produce around 250 hp, and a 305 about 200 hp
190 horsepower 240 pound torque
For an '84 Silverado, a 350 Vortec engine would generally be a better choice compared to the 305 with a 488 cam. The 350 Vortec offers more displacement, which translates to greater torque and horsepower potential, making it more suitable for various driving conditions. Additionally, the Vortec heads provide improved airflow and efficiency, enhancing overall performance. If you're looking for a balance of power and reliability, the 350 Vortec is likely the superior option.
The primary difference between the 350 V8 Vortec and the 305 V8 Vortec Chevy engines lies in their displacement and power output. The 350 V8 has a larger displacement of 5.7 liters, typically producing more horsepower and torque compared to the 305 V8, which has a displacement of 5.0 liters. Additionally, the 350 Vortec often features enhanced performance characteristics, making it a popular choice for applications requiring more power, such as towing or performance vehicles. Both engines use the Vortec design, which incorporates advanced cylinder head technology for improved airflow and efficiency.
No 305 heads bolt up different then 350 heads If they are 305 vortec they will bolt up. However they do not have the same flow. The 305 vortec head has smaller runners, smaller valves and does not have the same heart shape combustion chamber. Now if you meant the older 305 heads onto a 350 vortce then no they will not. The vortec uses raised runners and the ports will not match. On top of it all the 5.7 vortec has more flow then any other production head. Placing a 305 head in its place would be going backwards.
A V8 vortec could be either a 350 (5.7 liter) or a 305 (5.0 liter), it will say right when you open the hood, i have a 305, the truck is a 97 Chevy 1500.
The heads will fit the block, but the vortec intake manifold will not bolt to the old style heads.
