How many pounds of turkey to feed 9 people?

It depends on how much nutrition and food those 9 people each need to survive.

If you're trying to determine how big of a turkey to buy for Thanksgiving, a good rule of thumb is to buy 1 pound of turkey per person to allow for seconds and leftovers. So if you're having 9 guests for Thanksgiving, you'll need a 9-pound bird.

edit:

Remember that a 9 pound turkey is not 9lbs of meat...you'll need to account for bones and wingtips, etc. Ideally for nine people, you'll want a 15lb bird.
