You didn't mention 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive but if you just dropped the pan for a filter change, 3-4 qts will do it. 8 qts if the trans and converter are both empty.

With transmission fluid and a small spouted funnel, fill the stem with the red rubber ball cap, to the lower right of the engine. It's the same stem you check your transmission fluid level.
You know the tube that has the transmission dipstick? The fluid goes into that; there are special funnels at all auto stores.
These transmissions do not have a dipstick, the fluid level is checked by removing a fill plug on the case, similar to a manual transmission.
