Rat Island
There are two basic types of rats. Black/roof rats and Norway/brown rats. The brown rat, is also known as the Norway rat, house rat, gray rat, barn rat, and wharf rat, is one of the best-known and is the larger of the two. Roof rats are also called black rats and ship rats.
The islands could be named because there are rats on them, or because they are in the shape of rats. The smaller one is given the term "little" to distinguish the two. In Western Australia, there are islands called Rat and Little Rat Island. The "big" name is not used.

Big Rat Island is larger and features a more diverse ecosystem, while Little Rat Island is smaller and less developed. The names reflect the common practice of using descriptive terms to identify geographic features. Both islands are part of a group of islands in the Atlantic, contributing to their unique characteristics and histories.
The main species of rats are the black rat (Rattus rattus) and the brown rat (Rattus norvegicus). Black rats are smaller and more agile, while brown rats are larger and more common in urban areas. Both species are known for their ability to adapt and thrive in various environments.
