The Oboe is known as a double reeded instrument but this is a red herring as the SINGLE reed is made from one piece of cane folded over. The oboe makes a sound my air causing the two reed sides to vibrate against one another. This is different from a single reeded instrument like a Clarinet where the reeed vibrates against the mouthpiece.
An oboe has two reeds that are tightly tied together. Unlike a clarinet, an oboe does not have a mouthpiece.
An oboe is considered a double-reeded instrument. Its mouthpiece is made of two reeds wired together at the bottom.

Flutes, i play flute and i dont need a reed
Flutes and Piccolos don't use reeds. Also for E.C., an oboe doesn't use a reed either. :)
no, the reeded insterments are clarinets, saxaphones, bass clarinets, oboes, bassoons, etc. the flute doesn't have a reed, the sound is projected by blowing over the lip plate and creating the sound. the key's are to change the notes. :]
No. A piccolo is just a smaller version of a Flute. It is played in exactly the same way. The only difference is in pitch as the piccolo is higher than the flute. Hope this helps :)
I believe that a Piccolo does not have a reed but instead a mouthpiece.
There are no reeds inside a flute.

None. Whistles do not have reeds.
U.S. quarters have 119 reeds.
There are 118 reeds on a dime.
