There is no specific law dictating the exact ratio of Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) to residents in nursing homes. However, many states have regulations that outline minimum staffing requirements based on factors such as acuity levels of residents and the size of the facility. It is important for nursing homes to ensure they have adequate staffing to provide quality care to residents.
I believe 6 to 8 residents per CNA in the AM shift 9 to 12 residents in the PM shift. 12 to 14 residents in the NOC/SWING shift. The law in California is 6 to 8 residents per CNA. I don't know who is calling the shots for my residents within certain shifts.

I know that a Med Tech. is somebody who is able to pass meds under the supervision of a nurse but I didn't think that you had to be med tech certified to work in a nursing home. I work at a nursing home as a CNA and everybody I work with is a CNA. CNA's only help residents with ADLs and are not allowed to distribute medicines or apply topical creams. I would look into that again because I know for sure you don't have to be a Med Tech to work in a nursing home.
