There are three main rivers in New York City: the Hudson River, the East River, and the Harlem River.

The Hudson river is an estuary between New York City and Troy, New York. It flows into the New York Bay from the Hudson Valley.

The East River is actually a tidal strait. It flows south from the bay known as the Long Island Sound and into New York Bay, and it separates the Bronx and Manhattan from Long Island.

The Harlem River is also a tidal strait which flows between the above mentioned rivers. It separates the Bronx from Manhattan.

There are many rivers in the state of New york. The 70,000 miles of rivers in New York include the St. Lawrence, Hudson, Susquehanna and Delaware Rivers.
