There are many different organisations with recommendations. Most countries have their own organisation and they usually take the local diet into account when making the recommendations. In general, for an adult, a healthy portion of salt is 6 (six) gram per day. Believe me, that is not much and most people have double that amount and in some countries even more. Please beware of "hidden" salt in food products such as soy sauce and ready meals.

The FDA recommendation of sodium is no more than 2,400 milligrams each day.

That depends on whether you are talking about refined salt or natural salt?

Refined salt must be limited. Natural ocean salt can be used as much as you chose. There are no side effects to it. It contains everything that your own blood is made of.

2.5 to 5 grams. But you probably already get that much or more from the foods you eat, without adding any table salt yourself.
