Best Answer

The cultivated varieties of bananas which are gentic triploids and sterile have no seeds. All that they have are vestigial remnants, which are the black specks in the center. Wild varieties of bananas have roughly 15-62 seeds.

Yes there are, in wild varieties, the Musa acuminata, and the Musa balbisiana. The Musa acuminata has 15-62 seeds, and the Musa babisiana may have even more. They are usually not considered edible, though surely the ancients had to have cooked them or otherwise used them, or nobody would have tried to produce the cultivated varieties.

In cultivated bananas produced for human consumption, there are no seeds. What is left of the seed are just black specks. The cultivated bananas are genetic triploids and are thus sterile and seedless.
