Usually for undergrads, 2 (fall and spring.) This can vary between colleges and universities. Some operate on a Trimester schedule, and some graduate or accelerated courses of study may hold summer semesters. The summer semsesters in the United States for undergrads are usually held to make up classes, or get through the process faster. Select internships may be held in the summer months as well.

How many years of college and medical school does it take to become a doctor?

Eight. Four years of college are required (in which the pre-med curriculum includes four semesters of chemistry with lab, two semesters of physics with lab, two semesters of biology with lab, two semesters of calculus level math, two semesters of English). Four years of medical school are then required, two of which are pre-clinical years, and two of which are hospital and clinic-based years. After becoming a doctor (M.D. or D.O) internship lasts one year, and then residency lasts between three and seven years (depending upon specialty chosen). The key to becoming a doctor is to take one semester at a time, and make sure to study for a few hours every day (or, at least, five or six days out of the seven day week). In college, the three and one half month summers may be productively used to gain experience in a lab or doctor's office or other health-related area.

How many college semesters are in a year?

During regular sessions, there are normally two (fall and spring) semesters of 15 to 18 weeks each college year. Most colleges also offer summer sessions which are the equivalent of a full semester of work. Some colleges offer two summer sessions, so conceivably, you could complete four semesters per year by attending all available sessions. (Not a lot of fun!) Good luck.

How many credits do you need to transfer from a college to Eastern shore?

Competitive colleges really want to see a good two solid semesters. Still you have not indicated which school you are referring to. There is Eastern Shore Community College in Virginia which will be no problem. The other is, the University of Maryland: Eastern Shore. Applicants admitted is 63%. Thus it is somewhat competitive and a good two semesters should be to your advantage.
