Singapore has only one neighbour (Malaysia) although Indonesia (seperated by a strait) can also be considered a neighbour too
Thailand, Indonesia, and Brunei, plus Singapore is separated from Malaysia by a narrow strait.
When Singapore was chosen by Raffles as a British colony, the purpose of it was to make it a trading port and a resting spot for British ships that came to and fro India and China to trade with the chinese. As trade boosted in Singapore, more and more traders came in ships to trade in Singapore. Most of them were local traders that trade in Indonesia or Malaysia, but there are other who came all the way from China and etc. Singapore River is deep in depth and hence, big ships can dock in the river. This facilitated trade as many traders can dock their ships at the port at the Singapore River. Many warehouses were built along the river to allow the traders to store their goods. Hence, trade was very predominant along the Singapore River. It was like the central site of all trade and economy. Without the Singapore river, ships cannot dock in Singapore and then, there would be a huge difference in the economy of Singapore. In conclusion, the Singapore river was very useful in helping Singapore boost its economy.
How many 1 albums does George strait have?
The Øresund/Öresund strait. (strait 0 'sund' in both languages). The width of the strait varies between 4 km and 28 km - the shortest distance being between Helsingør (DK) and Helsingborg (SE). It has annual traffic of 40.000+ ships (> 50 tonnes) per year, which makes it one of the most busy waterways in the world. For approx 400 years (1429 to 1857) ships had to pay a toll to the Danish King (later the state) to pass the strait - for many years this was his biggest source of revenue.
