American colonists had surrounded the British officials and started harrassing them. They threw snowballs, taunted, and shouted. A mob formed and chaos erupted. There were many people and much confusion. One account bases the act of them firing because of the sheer confusion. Another states that one man dropped his gun and it went off, spurring the others to follow suit by shooting into the crowd.

The Boston Massacre was a famous event in history. We studied the Boston Massacre in class. What year was the Boston Massacre?
5 people were killed during the Boston Massacre.
The Boston Massacre started because of the colonists (people in the streets) were throing snow balls, ice balls, rocks, and anything else they found in the street at the soldiers, so the Captain ordered the soldiers not to fire, but with all the crazieness, one of the soldiers panicked and fired. Then everyone else started to fire shots and that is how 5 colonists end up dead in the end, and this is how The Boston Massacre started. The Boston Massacre started because, a young boy had thrown a snowball and had a horrible aim. He hit the british officer, the british officer over reacted and thought the boy had purposly throw the snowball at him. So he shot the boy, screams grew, the collinist were frightened, people ran and fought with the british officers. Two people had died that day, and many hurt badly. That was the cause of the Boston Massacre. The British taxed the colonies mistreated citizens and killed many people.
the Boston massacre was started by the British throwing snowballs.Answerthat's not true what really happend is they threw snowballs, ice chunks, and sticks and the colonists started the Boston Massacre both of those are not true the Boston massacre started because a man did not pay his bill for a wig so he got in a huge fight and the people around heard a unpleasent fight around and everybody crouded around and everybody started to fight and it got really bad. liarYoure all wrong. The boston massacre started when american protestors threw snowballs and stones at the British because they were occupying the city of Boston. The british fired without orders, killing five men. The whole wig thing is a myth. The guy actually had paid his bills the day before. Look it up.

The Boston Massacre was one of the pivotal "atrocities" committed by the British which galvanized the Americans against their former homeland. It took place in Boston Massachusetts in 1770. What appears to have happened was that an angry mob started harassing British soldiers. The soldiers panicked and fired a few shots into the crowd. Five people were killed and six were wounded. In my opinion, it was more of a well done publicity stunt by the patriots, than a massacre by the British, because in my mind 5 deaths is by no means a massacre, especially if it was in self defence. But whether it was a massacre or not, it was very useful to the patriots because it caused many people to support their cause.
