The dachshund breed comes in two sizes that are registered by the american kennel club, standard and miniature. The miniature dachshund is identified by being 11 pounds or under at 12 months of age or older. The standard size is usually between 16 and 32 pounds. These two sizes are the only two sizes that dachshunds can be shown in but I have seen mini mini dachshunds around 6 or seven pounds and middle sizes that are 12-14 pounds. People sometimes call these middle sized dachshunds tweenies. I have a miniature dachshund at 10.5 pounds and a small standard dachshund at 15.5 pounds.
A full-grown standard dachshund averages 15 lb (6.8 kg) to 28 lb (13 kg).
Ten months to a year when they start meeting size regularity
A rabbit dachshund is the smallest dachshund breed, usually reaching a maximum size of 8lbs.
three
Yes. It is true that there's a third size dachshund that is not found in the USA.
A standard Dachshund (often refered to as "sausage dog" or "weiner dog") is 8 to 11" in height to the shoulders, while a miniature Dachshund is 5 to 7" in height to the shoulders.
A miniature dachshund can vary in size. My mini dachshund is about 10 inches long.
They're because the dog used to be used to hunt. The standard size dachshund was bred to scent, chase, and flush out badgers and other burrow-dwelling animals, while the miniature dachshund was developed to hunt smaller prey such as rabbits.
