It really depends on the pattern you use. Some require significantly more yarn than others. A simple DC stitch would use less than a SC stitch (for example).

How many skeins of yarn do i need for a full size afghan I am using a k hook and doing single crochetes?

The size of the needle depends on the gauge of the pattern you are using. If you are not using a pattern, or are using a pattern that has no gauge, then check the label of the yarn used. Most labels today will give you a size of needle that they recommend for that specific yarn.

How many stiches do you need to cast on to crochet a 60x60 afghan?

you don't cast on to crochet. you do a base chain. to answer this question, you need to take into account the size thread you are using and the size hook. why don't you do crochet a diagonal stitch afghan. when it gets to be 60" wide, you decrease. there is a book delma's diagonal stitch which you can get, or search for a free diagonal stitch pattern. good luck

How much yarn do you need for a crochet blanket 48X 62?

It is impossible to say definitively since every pattern will use a different amount, plus the amount needed for your particular tension will be different. If you are using different colors or one color throughout will also make a difference. The weight of the yarn used would make a difference as well. For these purposes, I will assume worsted weight yarn. I found a post where an afghan 60 x 80 (top of a queen size bed), which is 4800 sq in, would use approx. 11 skeins of Red Heart Super Saver. Assuming the 7 ounce skeins, that would be 77 ounces. You would need a bit more than that since your afghan will be slightly larger. For a king size afghan, one poster used 112 ounces, and the other used 104 ounces. A king size mattress is 76 x 80 which is pretty close to the size you need. Your 68 x 88 blanket would be 5984 sq in. and 76 x 80 would be 6080 sq in., a difference of only 96 sq in. If you are using multiple colors, you will need xx amount of each color, which may mean having leftover yarn of some colors, but that amount needs to be included in the ounces purchased. If you are working with one color, you could make a sample row or round in a similar yarn type and measure how much yarn it takes. Then multiple that amount by how many rows or pattern rows you need to do. This will only be accurate if your rows are the same throughout, or if you make one complete "pattern" of your afghan. If you are using a pattern, the pattern of course should tell you how many ounces are needed. If it says only "xx skeins of xx type of yarn", then find that yarn online and see how many ounces or yards are in that yarn and multiple it out. If you are making squares, then you can make one square, rip it back and see how much would be needed, plus an allowance for assembly and edging.
