Tommy
Pete Townshend. He's a genius, not only is he an amazing guitarist, but he also writes ALL the songs by the who (except I'm the Face, Tommy's Holiday camp, Fiddle About, Boris the Spider, and My Wife). Pete Townshend actually came up ith the idea of Tommy (from being sexually abused as a child) and helped write the screenplay of the movie "Tommy". Pete had bigger ideas for The Who with a spectacular rock oprea called "Lifehouse". It was an extremely complicated idea but it is really a story about the meaning life. It ranges from the meaning of life is in one note, to running away of the waste on the world you created. They managed to pull something together and did some shows in London. But a poor manager (Kit Lambert) let in young boys off the street to see The Who for free. Lifehouse didn't work out and it ended up as "Who's Next" one of The Who's best albums. Some of the songs from Lifehouse are "Baba O'Reiley", "Going Mobile", and "Pure and Easy". Pete Townshend also came up with using synthesizers in songs which resulted in the begginging of Baba O'Reiley and "Won't Get Fooled Again". Pete Townshend is now in his 70's and can still do his famous "windmeel strum". He has lost most of his hearing (supposedly in a Smother Brothers Show in the '60s in which Keith Moon used big explosivees in his drums). But he still is one of the most amazing guitar players in Rock n' Roll history.
