It is generally safe to assume that a story would be 10 feet. Most standard ceilings are 8 feet, and add in thickness for floors and ceilings, piping and heating runs, etc. But some places would have 10 foot ceilings.

Taller buildings require additional structural strength. The tallest buildings are about 1700 feet with 100 stories.
