Flabby tyres produce more friction with the road.Less air pressure creates more surface friction, the less surface friction there is the better. (Example look at the very skinny narrow tyres on road racers as they don't need a lot of surface friction while mountain bikes have thick tyres as they need more friction)
When skiing, you need low friction to glide smoothly over the snow. High friction would cause you to feel resistance and make it difficult to slide across the surface. A low friction surface allows you to maintain control and move efficiently.
Surface friction ALWAYS point parallel to the surface and opposite motion. There must be a normal force for there to be friction
friction
When climbing, you need friction between your hands and feet and the climbing surface to help you grip and hold onto the rock or wall. Friction is key for maintaining stability and control, especially when making difficult moves or maneuvers. The type of climbing shoes you wear can also affect the amount of friction you have on the surface.
the rougher the surface is, the more friction there will be
the smoother a surface is, the less friction it produces.
When an object rolls over a surface, the friction that occurs is called rolling friction. Rolling friction is lower than sliding friction, which occurs when an object slides along a surface. Rolling friction results from the deformation of the object and the surface it is rolling on.
If the two surfaces are moving relative to each other, then the friction between them is Kinetic Friction. Prior to the surfaces moving there was Static Friction between them.
The friction that occurs is Rolling Friction
A force that resists motion of one surface across another surface is called FRICTION(or FRICTIONAL FORCE)
The kinetic friction is the force that opposes the motion of an object as it slides over a surface, while the static friction is the force that prevents an object from moving when at rest on a surface. Kinetic friction is generally weaker than static friction for a given surface.
