Though I do not believe violent video games promote real life violence, many experts believe they do. For example, in Australia violent video games are banned, and a heavy fine is placed on those found with them.

I do not necessarily believe that video games contribute to violent behavior in adolescents because I think kids and teenagers know the difference between right and wrong. Many parent have incorrect ideas about video games. Such as was stated in the first article, if a kid was spending a lot of time playing the piano or doing sports they would be considered doing something good and healthy where as if they spend a lot of time playing video games it is considered unhealthy. Video games can be an outlet for stress and it good for everyone to have a way to deal with their stress. Most teenage boys play video games so to say that the typical violent teenager was made that way by video games is a little ridiculous. They all play video games and they are not all violent kids.

We are exposed to many, many, many more example of violence in the media and everyday life than in video games. However, the argument is that people actually become involved in violent behavour in the game, which can make them believe than violent behaviour is acceptable. People also believe it can distort a childs perception of death, where they think that 'respawning' is real, and that they can't die. Another argument is that people can become obsessed with video games, not sleeping much, or eating what their body needs. This itself is a form of selfharm and can lead a person to agressive and violent behaviour.
