Dogs have very sensitive skin. The more they are bathed, the more of a chance there is of drying out their skin. Excessively dry skin can lead to chronic skin problems.

Most dogs do not need to bathed unless they are quite dirty or have rolled in something smelly, and even still, a spot cleaning might be all that's needed.

If your dog needs to be bathed, limit it to just once a month, and use a shampoo especially formulated for dogs, to help ensure that their skin's delicate pH is protected.
