They beat their wings 12-80 beats per second, depending on the species. For 12 beats per second, that is over 8640 per hour.
The Giant Hummingbird's wings beat 8-10 beats per second, the wings of medium sized hummingbirds beat about 20-25 beats per second and the smallest beat 70 beats per second. 8-10 beats per second would be 30,720-36,000 per hour assuming they are in complete flight for an hour, which I doubt
18,000 times
hurry up!
That will depend upon the particular species of hummingbird. North American hummingbirds are said to beat their wings around 53 times per second during normal flight. A straight conversion to per minute or per hour would be about 3180 beats per minute or 190800 beats per hour. It is unknown if they can maintain it for that long. Larger hummingbirds generally have fewer beats per second and smaller ones have more.
Bumble bees beat their wings between 130 and 240 times a second with the smaller bees at the higher end of the scale and the larger bees at the low end. To say how may times an hour would imply they fly continuously for an hour, which they don't.
Hummingbird's typically flap their wings 50 times per second and up to 200 times per second. Per minute: 3000 flaps up to 12,000. Hourly: 180,000 typically and up to 720,000. Now that is a lot of flapping eh...:)
it doesnt. butterflies lack hearts. __ Butterflies do have hearts. It's the length of their body and is beats about 50- 60 beats per minute. The link shows a cool drawing of a butterfly heart and how it works.
Depending on the species, hummingbirds can flap their wings anywhere from 40-80 times in one second, with the fastest being 90. During courtship, wing speed will increase further--even up to 200 times per second.A Ruby-throated Hummingbird, hovering in open space, has a wingbeat rate of about 50-52 times per second. The smaller the hummingbird, the faster the speed, ranging from about 10-80 beats per second.See related links for more info.A hummingbird flaps it wings 70 times per second. That's 4,200 times a minute.
The Giant Hummingbird beats its wings 10-15 times per second. The fastest recorded rate is about 80 beats per second on an Amethyst Woodstar Hummingbird. North American hummingbirds average around 53 flaps per second.
20 times per second
I always heard the question as wingspan, not wing velocity, but either way, there is no hummingbird named the African Hummingbird (although there is a moth known as the African Hummingbird Moth). If you want actual info on hummingbirds, a hummingbirds wings will beat about seventy (70) times per second while in regular flight and up to 200 times per second when diving.
A dragonfly flies by flapping its 4 large (but thin and transparent) wings. Dragonflies can beat their wings up to 40 times per second, and fly at up to 30 km/hour (18.6 mph).
