In Pokémon HeartGold and Pokémon SoulSilver, you have to win a streak of 21 battles in the Battle Tower in order to challenge Palmer, the Tower's Frontier Brain. In order to challenge Palmer twice (if you had defeated him before,) you have to win a streak of 49.
In the Battle Arcade, you have to win a streak of 21 before you get to do battle with the Arcade Brain, the Arcade Star Dahlia. After defeating her, in order to battle her again, you have to do a streak of 49 wins.
In the Battle Factory, you need to accomplish a 21-win streak before you can do battle with the building's brain, Factory Head Thornton. If you succeed in defeating him then you have to succeed in a streak of 49 wins in order to battle him again.
In the Battle Hall, you need to have a streak of 49 wins in order to first do battle with the factility's Frontier Brain who is Hall Matron Argenta. In order to battle her again, you have to keep on beating Rank 10 on every type for her to re-appear, the streak that you need for her to re-appear is 170.
In the Battle Castle, you need to have a win streak of 31 before you do battle with the Frontier Brain. The female leader of the Castle will never battle you, she'll have her Castle Valet Darach do the battling for her. After defeating him, in order for him to battle you again you'll have to accomplish a win streak of 49.

i have both games, and in Pokemon battle revolution, all you do is battle, but it looks cool and you can copy your ds Pokemon game's Pokemon into battle revolution so you can battle with them, but platinum is an adventure game, where you walk around, challenge people and catching wild Pokemon to add to you collection.
