Sadly, it doesn't matter -- since, as a rule, Christians aren't doing it effectively enough.

When Jesus asked an inquirer about the greatest commandment in the religion, the response was that we are to love God with all our minds, hearts, and strength, and our neighbours as ourselves. Jesus commended the inquirer for such an astute answer.

After His resurrection, Jesus challenged Kefas three times to feed His sheep, implying that care of the followers is of paramount importance to those in ministry.

Finally, when asked how many times one should forgive another, Jesus' teaching has been translated as "77 times" or "70 times 7 times".

The exact phrase, "...love the Lord your God" appears five times in the 1611 King James version and fourteen times in the New King James.

Taking the original King James pronouns into account, the phrase "love the Lord thy God" appears nine times, for a total of fourteen.

The phrase first appears and is oft-repeated in Deuteronomy (9), Joshua records it twice, and Jesus is recorded as quoting it in each of the synoptic gospels.
