How many times does the number 1 appear on the dollar bill?

Seventeen. Four times in the corners on the front, one to the right of Washington, and one under washington. On the back, twice in each corner (numerically and spelled out) once in the middle, and once on the bottom. wrong the digits = eight duhhh If you're counting "1" and "one" there's 17! I don't know why everyone keeps saying 16, there's a green circle to right of Washington (front side) that says "1789" on it. and there are 18 if you count the roman numerals on the back.
