Gary Ridgway, aka the Green River Killer plead guilty to killing 48 women in Washington state. His killing spree lasted from the early '80s through the 90's.
Refering to the victims as prostitutes reduces them from what they were. They were someones daughers, sisters, and in some cases, mothers.
Not all of the Green River victims were prostitutes. One in fact was a hard working waitress who was also the mother of a small child. He is also suspected of killing at least one woman in Portland, OR and possibly more. And there were several Southern California murders that he was suspected of but there was not enough proof to ever charge someone.

∙ 13y agoGary Ridgway had two marriages and resulted in two divorces with no children. Ridgeway had 1 son with his second wife. He used his son as a way to lure women into his truck. He was married three times. His last wife divorced him after he was caught for the murders.

When did the Green River killer stop murdering people?
According to Ridgeway himself in his 2003 confession after his arrest, Patricia Yellowrobe, who disappeared in 1998, was his last victim. This may or may not be the truth. Actually, Ridgeway had killed so many women over such a long period of time (2 decades) that even he could not recall all of them. Anitra Mulwee went missing December 31, 2000, and was later found in the Green River. It is possible she could have been a victim but there is no way to tell. Likewise with 49 year old Sharon Engelhart, who disappeared in February 2001, and she too, was found later in the Green River. Another possiblity is that there was a later, second killer that dumped the bodies in the Green River to lay blame on the Green River killer. Unless Ridgeway says for sure one way or another, the truth may be lost to history.
Did the Green River killer have children?
Gary Leon Ridgeway, aka The Green River Killer, had one son who is now an adult. I have heard that after his father's arrest and the world-wipe publicity backlash, that the killer's son changed his name and moved elsewhere. Can't say I blame him.
