Mount Etna had many different eruptions, but all of them caused some damage. i don't know a lot about it but the lava destroyed houses trees and most things, if there was snow on top it would have caused flooding an the pyroclastic cloud would have destroyed anything that got in its path.

Well the question needs to be a bit more precise because Mount Etna has erupted many times and killed no doubt millions of people but I do know that the death toll in the eruption of 1669 (which is Mount Etna's biggest eruption) is 17,000. Hope this helped :)
