well the total consumption of earths power on average sofar a year is 15TerraWatts of power, although this increases each year. the average output per year for 1 turbine is 0.35MegaWatts so that would mean, roughly 45000000 (fouty five million) wind turbines could more than power earths entirety (43Million is more than enough) even with 43 million there would be lots going to waist.

Now the total cost of all this would be 460trillion dollars, which is not that much. it would be affordable if 10 or 20 of the worlds most wealthiest countries, gave a decent wack of money from their annual incomes (not that much tho) so like 25 of countries gave a 20 trillion dollar donation. (they make way more each year. its affordable, and will give too many benefits for it to be a rip off.

There is a little bit of problem with your calculation:

460trillion $ is more than 6years of the world gdp.

Right now"2012" there is no country have more than 16trillion $gdp.

1:EU 16trillion$

2:US 15trillion$

3:Ch 6trillion$

The cheapest way to deal with this problem:

How long does it take from Wellington to Gisborne?

We flew from Vancouver to Auckland and it took us approximately 12 -13 hours (yours would be a little further). I believe you would have to change flights in Auckland to fly down to Wellington. We took a senic train from Auckland to Wellington and it was very nice - it was about 8 hours though. But you got to see so much more than flying. If this is your first trip you really need to take a trip to the south island - picture postcard beautiful!

At Marthas Backyard in Harvey Norman Plaza at 44 Mt Wellington Highway! They also take orders if you don't live in NZ :)

Which better wind farming or wind turbines why?

They are both the same. A wind farm is made up of several wind turbines. So wind farming would be best because it could create a great amount of energy if enough turbines were used. Actually these systems produce virtually no energy. They are great political units though. A wind turbine is rated for winds of 28 mph. Almost impossible average. The average runs closer to 14 mph. This produces 10% of the rated power claimed by the utilities. The 10% rated power that is generated is variable as the wind blows faster and slower throughout the day. Fossil fuel plants take long periods to get up and running so these plants are left running while we get power from the wind. Net result is zero savings, no fossil fuel plant shutdowns and a small increase in overall cO2 produced (manufacturer and maintenance of turbine). Throw in the thousands of birds and bats killed by them they make no sense.

How many wind turbines would it take for it to power the electricity a power plant does?

The number of wind turbines needed would depend on various factors such as the size and capacity of the power plant, the efficiency of the turbines, and the local wind conditions. In general, it would likely require a significant number of turbines to match the electricity output of a power plant.

How many wind turbines replace a coal power station?

The number of wind turbines needed to replace a coal power station depends on the size and capacity of the coal plant, as well as the size and efficiency of the wind turbines. On average, it can take several dozen to hundreds of wind turbines to replace a single coal power station.

Why turbines are placed on the roof of some homes in the tropics?

Turbines on the roofs of homes in the tropics are often used to harness wind energy for power generation. The consistent wind patterns in the tropics make it an ideal location for wind turbines. Placing turbines on rooftops can also help maximize space efficiency and take advantage of higher wind speeds at higher elevations.

How many wind turbines would need to generate the same power as a nuclear power station?

The number of wind turbines needed to generate the same power as a nuclear power station would vary depending on the specific capacities of each turbine and the power output of the nuclear power station. However, on average, it may take hundreds to thousands of wind turbines to match the power output of a single nuclear power station.

How many wind turbines would power the world?

To power up just North America it would need 40,000,000 wind turbines. Not sure how many power up the world The above answer seems to be off by about a factor of 10. The answer that follows is based on information from various sources, including the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the energy resources council of Texas, and the U.S. renewable energy lab in Colorado. Peak monthly electricity generation in U.S. - 410,000,000 Megawatt hours Hours in month for that month (July): 31 * 24 = 744 Typical nameplate power output of wind turbine: 1.7 Megawatts Capacity factor for wind turbines during that month: 9% 410,000,000 / 744 / (1.7 * (9/100)) = 3,602,000 So it would take roughly 3.6 million wind turbines, at minimum, to power the United States. Although the yearly average capacity factor for wind turbines is roughly 30%, during the summer months, the time of peak electric usage, it is much lower. This results in many more wind turbines being necessary to power the U.S. Wind power has limiting factors that would prevent it from being a single source of power. Wind is too variable and our power needs far too static to allow us to use this form of energy for more then supplemental power. Foe every wind turbine in use, a secondary source of energy needs to be on line to cover the variations of load.
