slightly more than normal bananas but it is for a good cause!
Fair trade bananas may cost more, but will benefit the farmers from rural populations a lot more and are considered by many to be "A fairer choice". However in normal bananas the highest amount of profit is generated by the Supermarket.
Fair trade is important because in many poorer countries, prices are so low that workers are unable to earn enough to live off of. Also, some goods are produced in ways that are exploitative to workers, or ways that are unsustainable environmentally, damaging to the environment in the communities in which the goods are produced. Fair trade does not instantly solve all these problems, but it aims to potentially address some of them in ways that conventional trade does not.
In the UK more than 7 billion bananas are eaten each year. (I'm not sure if that's fairtrade though.)

Fair Trade products are produced by many third world countries in Africa. The items include things like flowers, wine, and cocoa. Sugar and bananas are also products of fair trade companies including Empty Pocket Traders and Nisa.
We should buy Fair Trade because it will help many people and many places such as third world countries. It will help by giving them money and saving your own. There is only one place in Pakistan where footballs are made that is in Sialkot and the workers there get paid 20p for every football they make but they get 40p for every Fair Trade football the make which means they get more money for a Fair Trade football. In markets they sell footballs for at least £10 and about £2 goes back to the shipping and the workers therefore the shop keepers get about £18 profit where as the Fair Trade footballs cost approximately £5 and the £2 goes back to the workers and the shipping and the gets to keep about £3.
hiyaa u okiaaa what is Why is fair trade important
Millions of people are involved in Fair Trade around the world, including farmers, workers, and artisans. This sustainable trade model ensures fair wages, safe working conditions, and community development for producers in developing countries.
The workers who produced these goods are paid more money.
When a product is certified as being 'fair trade' it means that those who grew the cocoa beans received a fair price and that those who harvested the beans were paid a fair wage. There is no difference in type and quality of these beans from other beans, and thus there is no difference in the chocolate. However, fair trade chocolate is more expensive because of the higher (fairer) price paid to the growers and workers.
