Many things have been buried under the sand, but not the pyramids.
Wrong. They were discovered half buried in the sand. I think they were buried by humans or aliens and then the wind half uncovered them. Archaeologist believe that the wind half buried them
It is said to have take about 30 years to build the largest of the pyramids. Herodotus recorded that the work force consisted of 400,000 men, who each worked 3 months per year, so 100,000 was working at any given time. Modern historians have suggested the actual number at the site was closer to 10,000.
Pyramids seem to have been built over a period somewhat longer than 800 years. According to the articles sited below, there are 138 of them known, but clearly there may have been some that were lost. Of the pyramids that survive in Egypt, the oldest dates to about 2630 BC, and the most recent to some time after 1830 BC.
The list of pyramids includes one of Ahmose I, who seems to have lived about 1550 BC. It was not a funerary pyramid, and was rather poorly constructed, being built of rubble and faced with limestone. Today, it is just a 10 meter tall mound. Clearly others like this could go unnoticed.

Funny, you have the exact same question I have for my ancient Egypt quiz!! 6th grade.... sorry getting off topic {LOL} Okay, so I'm pretty sure this is the answer: First, there were mastabas, but then pyramids came because one of the pharaohs wanted something more than a mastaba, and then robbers robbed the riches from the pyramids, and they took a long time to build, so they decided just to bury them under the hills of the desert... and that's all I got :) Hope this is okay Haha, this is the exact question for mine : Write a paragraph describing how the tombs of the pharaohs gradually changed during the history of ancient Egypt. so, summary : 1-mastabas, 2-pyramids 3-under the desert
