Hair straightening will last depending on the hair straightener you used. Some who had hair straightening lasted for 10 years and it still works great.

Does permanently straightening your hair damage your hair more than a straightener?

Well it depends, I've permanantly striaghtened my hair 3 different times being as it only last about 3 months, and I still had to use the striaghtener because my hair gets pretty fluffy and would still get slightly wavy, and it did cause my hair to fall out a little bit, and did cause some dryness, and on top of that I still had to use the straightener. So i guess it all depends on whether or not you think its worth it, and what your hair is like.

Which hair straightener should you use if your hair is thick frizzy and curly?

One suggestion for a straightener is a "Conair Platnium" flat iron. Another one would be "Chi Flat Irons" which are usually very thin in width and that helps with making hair more defined and straight compared to the thicker flat irons. If you do use the Chi flat irons, part your hair and only use little bits of hair at a time when straightening it. This way the straight hair would last longer.Another contributor suggests using a Remington T/Studio as your hair will stay straight until you take a shower again.

Is laser hair removal permanent?

There is NO hair removal method (including laser) which can guarantee "permanent hair removal". The most realistic description of the results after laser treatment is: "long-term hair REDUCTION". This means: "After four to six treatments the total amount of hair is greatly reduced - generally by 70% to 90% - and hair which does grow is often much finer and lighter in color." Most people are very pleased with this degree of improvement, as long as they know that this is what to expect before they have laser hair removal treatment It is important for you to realize that after having between four and six treatment sessions it is VERY LIKELY that there WILL BE a very substantial reduction in both the amount of hair and also a reduction in the thickness and color of the hair in the treated areas. You should expect that this reduction in hair may last for many years. Because lasers have been used for hair removal for only the last seven years, we can't know if the results will continue to be felt in 10 or 20 years. However, we do know that stable, long-term hair reduction commonly lasts for at least two years, and some patients who had their last treatment six or seven years ago are still enjoying a high degree of hair reduction.

How do you curl hair with straightners?

You grab the straightener and grab a piece of hair not too big not too small (you be the judge of that) and then put the straightener on that piece of hair like if your going to straighten it and you twist it once and pull down. If you want it curlier than that you twist twice. Your straightener must have rounded edges in order to get a round curl (if it has squared edges the curl will be box shaped). Start at the bottom of your head about an inch section, and clip the rest of the hair up out of the way. Take one half of this section and put the straighteners at the roots. Your straighteners should be vertical and straight (this takes a lot of practice to do in your own hair). Turn the straightener the whole way around in your hair (360 degrees) and pull it to the end of the hair. Twist it back up to the head making sure that the hair is wrapping around it and then loosely unwind it from your hair. This is your curl. Continue and try to use the same amount of hair for each curl. This really does require a lot of practice so don't get disheartened if you find it hard. You can also find a volunteer to practice on. Also after you complete a section of curls apply a fine mist of hairspray to it. Straightener curls don't last as long as if you put them in rollers. If you find that the curl you produce is not curly enough use a smaller section of hair and if you find that the curl is too curly use a larger section of hair.

Can hair be straightened at home?

Yes, curly hair can be straightened at home. The best option is to use a device called a "straightener" that can be purchased fairly cheaply at most drugstores. It uses heat to press your hair flat. This effect will only last for a day or two. You can also try purchasing some shampoos and conditioners designed to flatten out curve in hair.
