You serve in prison for attempted murder however many years the judge says you will serve. If it was not your fault, you had a lousy lawyer. There is such a thing as post conviction relief. If you just got sent to prison you can start looking into it. If your lawyer refused to discuss your case before your trial, you should write to the judge and tell him that.
Otherwise, you may need to wait and see if new evidence appears. Post conviction relief is civil, not criminal. The standard of reasonable doubt no longer exists, you will have to present more evidence that you are innocent than the prosecution has presented that you are guilty. That done, you must behave yourself so they believe they made a mistake.
